Abstract

Astrophysical plasma flows carrying magnetic fluctuations of a broad dynamical range of scales are interacting with relativistic particles. The interaction results in a modification of the plasma flows and specific mechanisms of magnetic field amplification in collisionless shocks. We discus the ponderomotive forces due to momentum exchange between the anisotropic distribution of relativistic particle population and the turbulent background plasmas. The equation of motion and the induction equation averaged over the ensemble of magnetic field oscillations accounting for the effect of anisotropy of relativistic particles on the background plasma are derived. The equations governing the motions of plasma interacting with relativistic particles are needed to describe the large scale dynamics of the interstellar medium and the plasma flows in the vicinity of the sources of energetic particle acceleration.
