Visualization support with VisIt

Abstract
VisIt is an open-source project with main contributors at several US Labs (ORNL, LLNL, NERSC, etc.). VisIt's open architecture enables the visualization of data in a very efficient parallel manner. Several astro-physics code (FLASH, ENZO, etc) are already supported in the main branch of the code. In this talk, we show how the support for the A-MAZE code was developped, we give some examples of visualization, and we expand on a new feature of VisIt: the ability to interface to a running simulation. This in-situ visualization by-passes slow disk IO and annoying formatting issues by allowing the VisIt's rendering engine to directly access pointers in memory for the full AMR hierarchy. We will expand as much as possible in this emerging feature of the VisIt library.
